Affilin® molecules are small and highly stable cytoplasmic proteins of human origin.
They do not contain disulfide bridges and can be produced in the cytoplasm of E. coli in a soluble form. The production of Affilin® molecules in E. coli is more efficient in yield, time and costs compared to a production in mammalian cells, which is of particular importance when the proteins are later used for therapeutic applications.
Scil ProteinsŽ E. coli production process for Affilin® molecules is based on a high-level expression cell line using a proprietary expression system, a highcell density fermentation in fed-batch reactors and a simple chromatographic purification protocol. The scale-up of fermentation and downstream processing, as well as the production of clinical trial and market material, can be performed at Scil Proteins.
The in-house cooperation of Affilin® development and Affilin® manufacturing offers significant advantages. All Affilin® developments benefit from the early integration of manufacturing knowledge. This unique approach in scaffold business secures the development of only those candidates that hold a high probability for success, saving time in development, process development and production transfer.
